Cameras, lenses and subscriptions, in one ledger
Gear you paid for once becomes a cost per day — the price divided by the days you've owned it. Subscriptions become a cost per month, with yearly plans spread evenly. Two things you used to count separately, on the same scale, as one number.
On the App Store it is listed as “Kura 蔵”.
An iPhone app. The overview and monthly summary are free; a one-time purchase lifts the limits and turns on charge and expiry reminders.
The number
Sample figures. Per day = price ÷ days owned; yearly plans are divided by 12.
Gear
The price divided by the days you have owned it. The longer you keep something, the lower it goes — not as an excuse for an expensive lens, but as a way to see what keeping it is worth.
Price ÷ days owned. Sort the list by cost per day or by purchase date.
Keep the manufacturer and extended warranties separately. You're reminded 30 days before each ends.
Open a body to see the lenses you own for its mount. Open a lens to see the bodies it fits.
Log the shutter count with the date you read it. Keep sensor cleanings and repairs, with their cost.
Keep photos of the gear and its receipts together. Serial numbers show only the last four digits until you tap.
Enter what you sold it for and Kura shows what owning it really cost. Sold or lost items leave this month's holding cost.
Subscriptions
Streaming, AI, servers, domains, membership fees. Monthly, yearly, foreign-currency and usage-based charges, in one list.
Choose per service: same day, or 1, 3 or 7 days before. On the 1st of each month, a summary of the previous month arrives.
You're reminded 2 days and 1 day before the first paid charge, so fewer trials turn into payments you didn't notice.
Note which card pays for which service, and when a card is about to expire, Kura lists the services you'll need to update. Only the last four digits are kept.
Charges in other currencies are converted with reference exchange rates. Enter the amount from your card statement and that charge uses the actual figure.
“Charged this month” and “monthly average” are shown separately. When a yearly plan makes this month higher, one line says which one.
Services you mark as rarely used appear on the overview, with what they add up to over a year.
Apple Watch
There is no Apple Watch app. Notifications from your iPhone are passed to your wrist while the iPhone is locked — the monthly summary, charge reminders and trial endings alike.
While you are using your iPhone, notifications appear on the iPhone instead of the watch (this is how iOS works). Delivery is also handled by iOS, so a notification may not always arrive.
Privacy
No sign-up and no sign-in. Gear and subscriptions are stored on your device.
The only thing that leaves your device is a currency code, when rates are fetched. Names and amounts are never sent.
Kura doesn't ask for access to your whole photo library. The photos you choose are resized and stored on the device.
Pricing
The overview, currency conversion, and the monthly summary and trial-ending reminders work without buying. Over the limit, everything you've added stays visible and editable.
